China reports new bird flu outbreak in Shanxi
China has reported a new outbreak of bird flu on a chicken farm in the northern province of Shanxi, according to the Agriculture Ministry.
As of Jan 3, 15,000 chickens in Yijing town had died from bird flu. Yijing is part of Yangquan city.
Health officials have been sent to Yijing, where more than 187,000 chickens were culled. The ministry said the outbreak has been brought under control.
China has reported over 30 poultry outbreaks of the bird flu last year.
