Trade remains light in China sulphate additives markets

Cupric sulphate

Feed demand weakened as animal inventories reduced towards end of January. Prices of copper sulphate remained flat amid slow trade.

Low hog inventories will decimate the sales of cupric sulphate in the coming period in conjunction with cautious mood of buyers.

Zinc sulphate

Several zinc sulphate producers halted operation towards late January. Consequently, tightened availability of the product helped to underpin prices even as demand was slow.

Sales of zinc sulphate are set to stay weak with animal inventories low. Prices are less likely to firm up after the Chinese New Year holidays.

Manganese sulphate

As demand remained slack, manganese sulphate producers held prices stable in a bid to promote sales.

As of January 30, price quotes for manganese sulphate were in the range of RMB3,700-3,925/tonne. Delivery prices were in the range of RMB4,100-4,370/tonne.

Prices are therefore expected to stay around current levels during February.

Ferrous sulphate

Ferrous sulphate prices were mostly unchanged amid limited supply.

Even though demand will likely be weak in the coming period, ferrous sulphate prices are seen stable due to limited availability.
