US reports 1% rise in broiler production
During the week ending February 1, US broiler-type eggs set increased 1% to 200 million eggs in incubators, the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) reported.
Average hatchability for chicks hatched during the period was 83%.
During the week, chicks placed for meat production registered a slight increase to 163 million chicks, according to NASS. Cumulative placements from December 29 through February 1 were 820 million chicks placed, up 1% from the comparable year ago period.
