Chinese grain operators buy 39.1 million tonnes new corn

 

 

According to China's State Grain Administration, local grain firms had bought 39.1 million tonnes of new corn in major producing areas by January 20, with state-owned firms' purchases at 10.3 million tonnes (26% of the total output).

 

Meanwhile, the domestic grain companies had purchased 22.99 million tonnes of new non-glutinous rice and 22.07 million tonnes of mid-season and late rice by then.

 

The National Bureau of Statistics said that the country's corn output reached 191.75 million tonnes in 2011, a jump of 8.2% over a year earlier, and its rice production rose 2.6% on-year to 200.78 million tonnes.
