Egypt's Alcotexa sells nearly 4,000 tonnes of cotton last week
Egypt's Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (Alcotexa) sold 3,959 tonnes of cotton last week, according to an Alcotexa official on Monday (Feb 6).
The sales comprised 1,622 tonnes of the Giza 88 grade of cotton and 2,037 tonnes of Giza 86, the official said.
The deal brings Alcotexa's export commitments for the 2011-12 season, which began in September 2011, to 52,290 tonnes worth US$167.4 million.
By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 100,095 tonnes of cotton worth US$391.29 million.
