An eFeedLink Exclusive

Price summary

Prices moved higher.

Market analysis

AA broiler

Prices of AA broiler rose by over 2% just before the holidays as supplies of finishing broiler tightened after farmers have released most of their stocks.

Meanwhile, chick prices to increase RMB0.40-0.70/bird to RMB1.30-1.85/bird amid limited chick availability.

China breed broiler

Sales of live poultry improved after live poultry markets reopened just before the festive holidays. Prices of China breed broiler rebounded over 5% amid stable demand.

Nonetheless, chick prices remained flat as farmers were reluctant to expand inventories due to the bird flu outbreak.

Market forecast

Broiler demand will be slack after the festive holidays as chicken product sales dwindle. This, together with the bird flu scare, will weigh on broiler prices.

RMB=US$0.1456 (Feb 6)
