UK pork imports drop by 6% in Jan-Nov 2012

From January-November 2012, UK fresh and frozen pork imports were 6% lower, even though volumes from some countries increased.

UK exports increased again in November, with pork shipments up 13% compared with November 2011. However, exports were still below the exceptional levels of November 2010 and September and October 2012.

Imports totalled 33,500 tonnes in November, an increase of 3% compared with the same month of 2011.

This was also an increase from October and was the highest monthly figure since June 2011. Nevertheless, shipments for the first 11 months were still 6% lower on-year.
