Egypt implements major tariff cuts on agricultural products

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak Monday signed a decree to cut customs tariffs on common commodities by 25 percent, the official news agency MENA reported.

Customs tariffs on various kinds of foods, raw materials and intermediary substances needed for food industries would be removed entirely.

Meanwhile, duties on basic commodities such as beef, wheat, corn, fish, cheese, are coming down.

Agricultural products such as nitrogen fertilisers, seeds, pesticides and pharmaceuticals would also enjoy tariff cuts.
