Greece blocks 2,700 tonnes of Turkish wheat imports
A consignment of Turkish wheat was not allowed onto the Greek market after tests showed dangerous levels of toxic contamination, an official said Friday.
Some 2,700 tonnes of the Turkish hard wheat contained traces of ochratoxin A above acceptable safety levels, Deputy Agriculture Minister Alekos Kontos said.
He did not say where or when the consignment was stopped.
Ochratoxin A, produced by mould, can affect kidney function.
