Argentina exchange raises soy forecast to 52 million tonnes
Argentina's bumper soy crop got a boost from showers across much of the farm belt this week, leading to expectations of higher yields.
The Buenos Aires Cereals Exchange said in its weekly crop report on Thursday (Feb 4), that Argentina's 2009-10 soy production is expected to reach a record 52 million tonnes, up 1 million tonnes from last week's estimate.
The corn crop is also developing well with the increased rainfall this week which spurs growth. Meanwhile, the exchange left its forecast for corn production unchanged at 18.4 million tonnes.
