Higher seafood exports from Norway in January
Norway's seafood exports increased by 6% in January compared to the same month in 2009.
The most important contributor to this rise was a 23% increase in exports of dry, salted cod, also known as klippfisk in Norway, to Brazil. In total, Norway exported klippfisk for NOK122 million (US$20.78 million) in January.
This is 186% more than in January 2009. The salmon exports rose by NOK240 million (US$40.22 million) to NOK1.8 billion (US$301,706), the largest receiving countries being France, Poland and Russia.
Herring and mackerel exports dropped due to lower prices.
