Aquentium introduces safe antimicrobial poultry processing technology

Aquentium, Inc., a manufacturer of non-chemical sanitation and food safety equipment said its ozone equipment can allow US poultry processors to return into the Russian market.

Effective January 1, 2010, Russia has banned chickens from countries using chlorine in poultry processing. It is a rule that virtually kept US poultry out of the Russian market, as the chlorine treatment is commonly used by US poultry processors to disinfect chickens.

Aquentium CEO Mark Taggatz said the company's ozone treatment is a safe, chemical-free solution.

The Aquentium complete line of commercial ozone equipment is an alternative to chemicals for disinfection of both air and water. In addition to purification of air and water, the Aquentium ozone equipment extends the shelf life of fresh food without the use of chemicals. The use of ozone in the food industry is approved by the USDA and FDA and is also approved for organic certification.

Ozone is over 50% more effective than chemicals and over 3,000 times faster acting than chemicals. Ozone is generated from oxygen and is non-toxic. Ozone eliminates or reduces pathogens by destroying the cell wall. Pathogens cannot develop resistance to ozone as they can to antibiotics, so there is no danger of developing superbugs through the use of ozone.

Organisms destroyed by pzone include bacteria, cysts, yeasts, virus, protozoa, algae and fungal pathogens.

Ozone air treatment applications eliminate odours and produce no harmful byproducts, according to Aquentium.

Aquentium is a diversified company that has interests in non-chemical sanitation equipment, alternative energy, waste-to-energy, water treatment, food safety, mining, building materials, affordable housing, re-deployable emergency housing, and recycling.
