Thailand's conglomerate to build three production bases in Shanghai

Charoen Pokphand Group is to build three production bases in Shanghai, said Dhanin Chearavanont, chairman of the company.

One base will have an annual output of 1 million pigs, another with a production capacity of 2 million broilers per week, and the other will raise 3 million laying hens independently and in cooperation with partners in Shanghai, said Chearavanont.

Total investment will be over RM 10 billion (US$1.4 billion).

A senior manager of the company estimates the bases to produce 90,000 tonnes of meat, 200,000 tonnes of chicken and 42,000 tonnes of eggs per year.

Charoen Pokphand Group is one of the largest corporations in Thailand, and has overseas investments in more than ten countries.
