Record chicken consumption in Brazil last year
Chicken consumption in Brazil set a new record last year, according to the Brazilian Broiler Chick Producers Association.
Brazilian chicken consumption set a new record in 2006, going from 35.8 kilogrammes (78.9 lbs) to 36.3 kilogrammes (80 lbs) per capita, growing 1.4 percent, according to the Brazilian Broiler Chick Producers Association (Apinco).
As chicken exports were reduced, local chicken supply was increased and became cheaper.
With stable chicken production and less exports, the Brazilian supply grew 2.76 percent to 6.768 million tonnes last year.
