India 2009 wheat output to reach 78.4 million tonnes

India's wheat production in 2009 is likely to be around last year's output of 78.4 million tonnes, the farm commissioner said Wednesday (February 4).

N.B. Singh said the production target of 78.5 million tonnes wouldn't be achieved this year.

"We will be happy to reach last year's output level," he told reporters.
