Mar-Jac Poultry buys Marshal Durbin

 

 

In a deal finalised January 24, 2014, Mar-Jac Poultry bought out Birmingham, Alabama-based Marshall Durbin, of which the deal includes a poultry processing plant, hatcheries, feed mills, a laboratory and distribution centre.


Mar-Jac processes chicken for wholesale distributors, the foodservice industry and for export. The company's plant is halal certified. Mar-Jac processes two million chickens per week at its Gainesville, Georgia facility, according to the company's website. The company employs 1,200 workers at its Georgia plant and 1,000 at its Mississippi operations. The Marshall Durbin acquisition adds another 1,000 workers in Alabama.
