Vietnam's January seafood exports down 18%
Vietnam's General Statistics Office (GSO) said Thursday (Feb 2) that the country's seafood export in January earned US$350 million, representing an on-year decrease of 18%.
During the first month of this year, the Southeast Asian country spent US$50 million for importing seafood raw materials for local processing industry, the state agency said.
In 2012, Vietnam projects to earn US$6.5 billion from seafood shipment compared to US$6.11 billion in 2011.
The country mainly exports pangasius fish and shrimp products to foreign markets.
