Henan exports of live pigs to Hong Kong totalled US$79million
In 2009, Henan province in central China exported 359,138 heads of live pigs valued at US$79 million to Hong Kong.
The export volume and value were up 44.5% and 70.9% respectively, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. It was the second year Henan had the largest live pig exports to Hong Kong, compared with other mainland provinces.
The province also had US$47.9 million worth of meat and meat products exported overseas last year.
Henan is home to leading meat processors including Shineway, Huaying, Dayong and Yongda.
