China's live pig prices may fall in Q2

 

 

A foreseen increase in supply number may sharply pull down prices of live pigs in China in the second quarter of 2009 according to an official from the National Development and Reform Commission.
 

The official says that it important to stabilize the breeding and prices of live pigs to increase peasants' incomes, meet market supplies, and boost economic development. He adds that breeding of live pigs is an essential part of the agriculture industry as well as a major income source for peasants.

 

Breeding of live pigs have rapidly increased recently, hence, the surge of production which led to a price decline. For this reason, the official said measures should be immediately measured to avoid a big drop in prices of live pigs.
