Tyson cuts poultry, pork output amid storm
The winter storm bringing cold and snow to the US Midwest had reduced pork and poultry output at some of Tyson Foods' plants, the company said Tuesday (Feb 1).
The company has suspended or reduced production at "about half a dozen" poultry plants. The plants are in northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri, Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson said.
Tyson's Columbus Junction, Iowa pork plant was shut on Tuesday (Feb 1) while the Logansport, Indiana pork plant will not run a first production shift on Wednesday (Feb 2), he said.
Production schedules at the beef plants have not changed.
