Cargill cancels pork production due to storm
Cargill Inc has cancelled the second production shifts on Tuesday (Feb 1) at its two Iowa pork plants ahead of a winter storm that is expected to bring heavy snow and cold to the US Midwest beginning on the same day.
The two Cargill plants are in Ottumwa and Beardstown, Iowa.
Cargill also is a leading beef producer, but those plants in the central and southern Plains have not yet been affected by the storm, said Mike Martin, Cargill spokesman.
