Agri Star Meat and Poultry to expand meat production

Postville, Iowa-based Agri Star Meat and Poultry, formerly known as Agriprocessors Inc., will expand the plant's poultry production and restarts its beef line.

The plant is expanding its turkey processing operation, which will require adding a second shift to its poultry line. The plant will also restart the beef line in several weeks' time.

The plant was bought out of bankruptcy last autumn. Once employing approximately 1,000 workers, the plant now employs more than 400. The expansion is expected to add 150 new jobs.
