Poland likely to export poultry to China soon

Veterinary authorities from China might inspect Polish poultry plants this quarter, which could help open access to the large Chinese market.

About 20 poultry producers want to apply for inspections, said Krzysztof Jazdzewski, Deputy Chief Veterinarian.

Krystyna Szczepkowska, spokesperson of Polish poultry producer Indykpol, saidthat China is expected to become the world's biggest poultry importer this year.

Poultry group Konspol also wants to obtain the certificate from the Chinese veterinarians.

There is great poultry demand in China, said Konspol president Konrad Pazgan. However, he admitted that the current exchange rate of the Polish currency, the zloty, makes exports unprofitable.

Polish pork producers are also looking for chances to export their products to China.
