Nepal to lift import ban of China milk products
Nepal is to lift its ban on imports of China's milk products after an international laboratory found that samples collected from Nepal tested negative for melamine, according to Xinhua news agency.
Import will be allowed after conducting a test of imported items, said Jeevan Prabha Lama, deputy director general of the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC).
Nepal banned milk imports from China in late September last year upon the eruption of the melamine scandal. Nepalese banks were also instructed not to issue credits for the importing of China's milk products.
About 35 companies in Nepal import Chinese milk products.
