Brazil's January soy exports rose to 528,900 tonnes
Brazil's January soybean exports rose to 528,900 tonnes compared with 471,100 tonnes exported in December, the Foreign Trade Ministry said Thursday.
January 2007 exports declined in comparison to January 2006 exports of 716,100 tonnes.
Daily export averages were 24,000 tonnes, or 2.1 percent greater than December volumes.
Total January export value from soybeans was US$138.6 million, compared with US$116.7 million in December and US$179 million in January 2006. Average prices paid per tonne were US$262.10 per tonne compared with US$247.70 in December and US$245.50 in January 2006.
Soymeal exports declined to 801,500 tonnes in January compared with 979,000 tonnes in December and 858,600 tonnes in January 2006.
Soyoil exports declined substantially, according to the government's figures, hitting just under 40,000 tonnes compared with 151,100 tonnes in December and 129,600 tonnes in January 2006.
Brazil's soy exports will likely start increasing over the next two months as Mato Grosso, the no. 1 soy producer, advances along in the harvest. Brazil is expected to harvest a record-breaking 55 million tonnes, according to government estimates.
Brazil is the world's no. 2 soy producer behind the US.
