Canada's 2013-14 grain output to increase by 5%
Due to expected increases in seeded area and yields, Canada's production of major grain and oilseed crops is expected to rise by 5% in 2013-14 marketing year (August-July).
This is according to the first supply and demand projections from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's market analysis division, released on January 28.
Production of the eight major grains and oilseeds - rapeseed, flaxseed, soy, wheat, oats, barley, corn and rye - in 2013-14 was forecast at 73.810 million tonnes, up from the 2012-13 estimates of 70.196 million tonnes and the 2011-12 level of 67.481 million tonnes.
