Russia to cut meat imports in 2012
Reductions in meat import quotas for this year has been approved by the Russian government.
The cuts will see pork imports decrease by 14%. The provision allowance will therefore be reduced from 500,000 to 430,000 tonnes.
Poultry imports will also decrease by 6%. The only figure to be retained unchanged is for purchases of beef, which is set at 560,000 tonnes. However, these fees can be modified over the years because they depend on the development of the process of accession of Russia to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
