Pakistani wheat crop shows big decline

 

 

Agriculture Forum Pakistan Chairman Muhammad Ibrahim Mughal noticed a significant drop in per-acre wheat harvest for 2012, which according to him, may lower to 26 maund/acre.

 

Mughal alleged that wrong policies and faulty planning have pushed the province 15 years' back in the agriculture sector.

 

He held the sitting Secretary Agriculture Arif Nadeem responsible for it and alleged that he (Arif Nadeem) would be ruining now the health sector.

 

The meeting was attended also by Mian Abdur Rashid, Chaudhry Waqas, Rana Rauf, Chaudhry Zahid Ali, Mian Fakahr Nadeem and other members of the Agri Forum.

 

Agri Forum Chairman further claimed that production of gram crop might also be dropped by 200,000 tonnes to 300,000 tonnes after wheat .
 

He said that the province was getting this production some 40 years back.

 

He urged the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of this decline in the production of different crops in the province and order immediate steps for improvement.
