Tyson invests in expansion of deboning plants

Tyson Foods Inc. is investing in a US$1-million expansion of deboning operations at plants in Berryville and Green Forest, that will add up to 300 jobs in Carroll county.

The full-time positions are welcome in an area where tourism ranks second in job numbers only to poultry processing, and unemployment soars when the tourists go home, said Berryville Mayor Tim Mc-Kinney.

Springdale-based Tyson Foods, the world's largest meat processor and the nation's top poultry producer, is expanding deboning operations in the two plants to keep up with increasing customer demand, company spokesman Gary Mickelson said Wednesday (Jan 26).
