Kyrgyzstan to resolve meat export issues within two years
The Government of Kyrgyzstan will resolve the problem with meat export to Russia and Kazakhstan within 2 years, according to Vice Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov.
Japarov said Kazakhstan and Russia demand that all international veterinary requirements will be met.
"If we do not adopt the law on animal identification and do not fund of compulsory insurance from diseases under supervision of the government, if we do not establish necessary labs, our meat will not be exported at all," he said.
Over 50 tonnes of meat was imported to Kyrgyzstan in 2009, while not a single kilo of meat was exported.
"We ask no more than two years for establishment of certified laboratories which will be recognised by our neighbours. Kyrgyz meat would not have access to their markets without certificates and other required procedures," Japarov explained.
MP Alisher Sabirov said the Government should also work on construction of contemporary slaughterhouse, since the country lacks facilities where all sanitary norms will be fully met.
