Vietnam calls on more aquaculture investments
The Mekong delta province of Tien Giang is calling a total investment capital of more than VND192 trillion (US$10.6 billion) for 117 projects, focusing on aquaculture and seafood processing, port development and eco-tourism.
President Nguyen Minh Triet has expressed his hope that will muster its internal strength to be listed among the country's strongest developing localities.
Addressing an investment promotion conference, the largest of its kind so far, on January 29, Nguyen spoke of Tien Giang's advantages in its position as a gateway for trade activities between Mekong delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
As the province has so much potential in terms of investment, he called on local and foreign investors to focus on Tien Giang's investment projects, which will improve the provincial traffic infrastructure considerably and assuring that investors will be welcomed with the most favourable conditions for their business activities.
According to the provincial People's Committee chairman Tran The Ngoc, the committee granted investment licences to nine businesses and signed 14 memoranda of understanding with dozens of investors.
