New poultry feed mill of Pilgrim's Pride to open

Pilgrim's Pride new poultry feed mill in Louisiana, US, will be officially opened on Friday.

Construction commenced in January 2006 on a 250-acre site that was leased from the city of Natchitoches by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.

The US$18 million feed mill contains large grain storage facilities to allow sizable purchases of local grain.

Officials estimate that the mill will purchase 3.5 million bushels of Louisiana-produced corn and soy per year. The mill will have a producing capacity of 6,000 tonnes of poultry feed per week.
