Argentina's 2004 soybean exports at US$1.73 billion

Argentina exported US$1.73 billion worth of soybeans in 2004, the national statistics agency, Indec, reported Monday.

That puts the value of soybean exports down 5.6% from US$1.833 billion the preceding year.

Indec didn't provide information on the volume of soybean exports.

Meanwhile, soyoil exports totalled $2.241 billion, up about 12% from $2 billion in 2003, Indec said.

Soymeal exports amounted to $3.6 billion last year, up 10% from $3.26 billion in 2003.

Argentina is the world's No. 3 soybean exporter and the No. 1 exporter of soyoil and soymeal, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
