MPC eyes US$550 million shrimp exports in 2012

Rising 60% from last year, Vietnam's Minh Phu Seafood Corporation (MPC) targets an earning of US$550 million from shrimp exports in 2012.

The company expects to increase shipping its products to foreign markets despite meeting difficulties in some markets, Le Van Quang, the company's general director said.

All production facilities of the company started to work since beginning of the New Year. Of those, two processing plants in Hau Giang and Ca Mau provinces are working at full capacity, Quang noted.

Last year, MPC raked in US$334.39 million from shipping abroad over 27,178 tonnes of shrimp, up 35% on value and 17.6% in volume from 2010.
