US-based Neptune Industries commence farm expansion
Neptune Industries has announced that construction of its South Farm Expansion project, the second major expansion of its Blue Heron Aqua Farms site in Florida City, has commenced.
Neptune's chief operating officer, Sal Cherch stated that the completion and stocking of the first expansion should be at the end of 2008's first quarter.
According to Cherch, the remaining of the project is expected to finish by the end of 2008's second quarter, which when completed, is projected to triple production and revenue capabilities, making Blue Heron farm one of the largest hybrid striped bass producers in the world.
In addition to producing hybrid striped bass, the expansion would have state-of-the-art aquaponic facilities to produce hydroponic crops of lettuce, micro green, herbs and vegetables, which are expected to add to the company's revenue stream, utilising fish waste as fertiliser.
Based in Boca Raton, Florida, Neptune Industries, Inc. is a publicly traded holding company with diversified interests in aquaculture technology, food science, sustainable seafood, and related natural and organic food products.
