US states to resume poultry export to Taiwan

The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Taiwan has reopened its doors to poultry from Virginia and West Virginia.

Taiwan has banned poultry exports from the two states in April 2007 after low-pathogenic bird flu was discovered there.

According to the FSIS notice, all poultry and poultry products from Virginia and West Virginia are eligible only if they are produced on, or after January 23, 2008. Products that are produced prior to that date are ineligible.
