Scottish pork enters UK supermarkets
Scottish food processor Browns Food Group has secured its first national contract with Morrisons Supermarkets, one of the big four UK supermarket chains.
Browns Food Group, from Kirkconnel, Dumfriesshire, will supply Specially Selected Roast Pork from Scotland for a new range of products under the Morrisons' The Best brand, launching next month.
Browns are strong advocates for Scottish product and the new products supplied to Morrisons supermarkets are endorsed by the Specially Selected Pork logo. This applies to product that has been born, reared and slaughtered in Scotland in full compliance with Quality Meat Scotland's (QMS) assurance schemes.
The Quality Meat Scotland assurance scheme standards are stricter than those required by legislation and guarantee high animal welfare standards, endorsed by the Scottish SPCA.
