Weakened egg, broiler prices decimate methionine demand in China
Prices of methionine dropped further during the week ending January 30.
As broiler and egg prices showed signed of weakening of late, feed millers who were accumulating inventories before the long holidays limited purchases. This in conjunction with abundant supplies of local products held methionine prices soft.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine were in the range of RMB29.70-30.20/kg.
Prices of methionine are expected to remain on weak trends.
