India's food inflation shows decrease
For the week ended January 14, 2012, India's food inflation has dropped to 1.03% while the annual rate of inflation was down to 1.89% as against 2.47% the previous week.
The index for Food Articles group rose by 0.3% to 191.4 from 190.9 for the previous week due to higher prices of bajra fish marine and jowar ragi and barley and wheat corn and milk. While the prices of fruits vegetables egg gram moong and condiments spices declined. The index for Non Food Articles group declined by 1.5% to 179.9 from 182.6 for the previous week due to lower prices of flowers raw cotton sunflower and raw rubber castor seed and copra. While the prices of gaur seed groundnut seed and raw jute coir fibre linseed soy rape mustard seed and mesta moved up.
