Tyson discusses pork deals with China
Tyson has commenced discussions with China on purchases of US pork, company CEO, Richard Bond, said.
Bond confirmed that talks with COFCO, China's largest oil and food importer, have been initiated as these give tremendous opportunity for Tyson to supply meat to China following recent loses in China's hog numbers.
However, Bond is uncertain whether a deal could be reached, or when.
Last year, meat producers including Smithfield Foods, negotiated with Chinese officials and exported around 30,000 tonnes of pork to China.
