First Shipment of Mexican Beef Sent To Korea

Mexico sent its first beef shipment to Korea on January 27, the Mexican Bank for Foreign Trade said.

A spokesperson for the bank said that Mexico is in a position to export around US$30 million worth of beef a year to Korea, and is looking to build long-term relations with Korea in order to increase the volume of beef exports in the future.

Korea imported 301,442 tonnes of beef in the calendar year to November 2003.  Of total beef imported, 69% was provided by the US and 21% by Australia.
