Don Jackson elected to Pilgrim's Pride Board of Directors
Pilgrim's Pride Corporation announced that Don Jackson, president and chief executive officer, has been elected to the company's Board of Directors, effective immediately.
Jackson joined the company on an interim basis last month and his appointment as president and CEO was approved on Tuesday (Jan 27) by the US Bankruptcy Court. Prior to accepting his position with Pilgrim's Pride, he served as president of Foster Farms' poultry division, a leading poultry producer on the West Coast.
As previously announced, the company filed for bankruptcy on December 1, 2008. The company's operations in Mexico and certain operations in the US were not included in the filing and continue to operate as usual.
Pilgrim's Pride Corporation employs approximately 48,000 people and operates 35 chicken processing plants and 11 prepared-foods facilities. Pilgrim's Pride products are sold to foodservice, retail and frozen entree customers. The company's primary distribution is through retailers, foodservice distributors and restaurants throughout the US and Puerto Rico and in the Northern and Central regions of Mexico.
