India government raises wheat support price to INR1,080/100kg
The Indian government on Wednesday (January 28) raised the state-fixed wheat support price that it pays to local farmers to 1,080 Indian rupees (US$22.05)/100kg from INR1,000/100kg, a federal minister said.
"The government has raised wheat support price to INR1,080 per 100 kg," India's Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
He said the prices would be effective from April, coinciding with the crop harvest in 2009.
