China fishmeal imports increase in December
China imported 41,492 tonnes of fishmeal in December 2006, up 69 percent from November, and a 7 percent rise from the same period in 2005.
Imports in December 2006 came mostly from:
Peru: 16,889 tonnes;
Chile: 10,758 tonnes;
Russia: 3,416 tonnes.
For the period from January to December 2006, China's fishmeal imports totalled 979,149 tonnes, down 38 percent from 2005.
