Ukraine to export at least 13 million tonnes grain

 

 

For the 2010/2011 marketing year, Ukraine plans to export at least 13 million tonnes of grain, according to the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food, Mykola Prysiazhniuk.

 

"During the marketing year, Ukraine will give the amount of grain, which was expected from it according to calculations of both the world organisations and our statistics: it will be not less than 13 million tonnes," Prysiazhniuk said.

 

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers by its October 4, 2010 resolution set a quota for export of wheat and mixture of wheat and rye (meslin) in the amount of 0.5 million tonnes, corn-two million tonnes, barley-0.2 million tonnes and rye-1,000 tonnes.

 

Quotas for the export of buckwheat are set in the volume of 1,000 tonnes. All the quotas were introduced for the period up to December 31, 2010.

 

December 8, the Cabinet extended the regime of quotas for grain export by one quarter to March 31, 2011, and increased the size of quotas for 1.5 million tonnes up to 4.2 million tonnes.

 

In particular, the size of the export quota for wheat increased by 500,000 tonnes up to one million tonnes, corn by one million tonnes to three million tonnes.
