UK egg sales hit record high
According to a research by Taylor Nelson Sofres, egg sales in the UK are rising to their highest level for 15 years.
More than 100 million additional eggs were sold, with figures indicating that volume of egg sales was up 2.5 percent for the year while egg sales value went up by 6 percent on the previous year.
The British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) said the increase is a result of enthusiastic PR and marketing campaigns that focused on the health and slimming benefits of eggs.
BEIC chairman Andrew Parker said the egg market growth is unprecedented with rapidly increasing value and it is showing no signs of slowing down.
