China's calcium phosphate exports up 11% in 2013
China has exported 170,000 tonnes of calcium phosphate in 2013, a rise of 11% on-year, according to data from the Customs General Administration.
In December alone, exports of calcium phosphate totalled 19,622 tonnes, an increase of 3.8% compared to November 2013 and a surge of 86% on-year.
Throughout the 2013, the poultry sector in China was beset by bird flu, thus suppressing the demand for poultry feed while denting sales of calcium phosphate in the domestic market. However, sales to the global market were boosted, resulting in an increase in the export of the mineral.
There are several applications for different forms of calcium phosphate, including its application in the production of phosphoric acid and fertilisers and feed additives for livestock and poultry.
