Ukraine's December poultry count down by 4.6%
As of January 1, 2011, the poultry population of Ukraine fell by 4.6% or 9.823 million heads in December to 202.084 million heads, compared with November.
In private farms, the poultry population went down by 11.1% or 11.546 million heads, and in specialised farms grew by 1.6% or 1.722 million heads.
In specialised farms, the poultry population rose by 9.3% or 9.373 million heads, and in private farms the poultry population by 1.4% or 1.246 million heads.
Earlier, in November, the poultry population fell by 3.4% or 7.404 million heads, compared with October, to 211.907 million heads as of December 1, 2010.
Meanwhile, also in December, Ukraine's pig population fell by 4.3% or 360,300 heads compared with November, to 8,039,600 heads as of January 1, 2011, reported the State Statistics Service.
Pig population dropped by 5.8% or 270,700 heads compared to November, to 4,417,100 heads in private farms, and by 2.4% or 89,600 heads to 3,622,500 heads in specialised farms.
The pig population rose by 6.1% or 463,000 heads against December 1, 2010.
Specifically, pig population grew by 9.5% or 314,600 heads in specialised farms, and by 3.5% or 148,400 heads in private farms.
Earlier in November, the pig population went down by 1.4% or 122,700 heads compared with October, to 8,399,900 heads as of December 1, 2010.
