China's Star Lake Bioscience makes its foray into the feed additive industry with the completion of a 30,000-ton lysine production facility

Star Lake Bioscience Co., Inc., is making its foray into China's feed additives industry, in a bid to establish a foothold in the biological and fermentation engineering industry. Well supported by state-of-the-art core technology, this move is part of the company's strategy in actively developing new domains.

The RMB 350 million-lysine production facility, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons, officially commenced production at the Star Lake bio-engineering base on January 21. The company aims to strengthen its growth and create new avenues for increasing profit through further development of amino acid products and diversification of its agricultural medicinal products. Thus, the lysine facility also represents a new platform for raising its market competitiveness and accelerating progress of the organization.

The facility is the largest lysine production base in southern China. Construction of the plant commenced in March 2004 and it is fully operational in just 11 months.

Furnished with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, Star Lake's lysine production facility is an epitome of a modern biological fermentation enterprise that is cutting edge, efficient, pro-environment and energy conserving. The facility is expected to generate significant economic and societal gains once it rolls into production, raising the company's annual revenue by RMB 400 million or more.

At the inaugural ceremony, the deputy general manager of Star Lake Bioscience, Luo Ning, concluded deals of more than 10,000 tons of lysine products with five major local and foreign traders.
