China buys huge US beef volumes
By the end of 2011 marketing year, China, a good buyer of US pork but seldom purchasing beef, showed up as a big buyer in the latest USDA weekly export summary.
USDA reports exports of 23,300 tonnes for China through December 31, along with 800 tonnes for South Korea and Japan each, and 400 tonnes for Mexico.
Accumulated US beef exports for 2011 were up 31% from the previous year.
